Durante estas férias de Inverno, tenho tido um pouco mais de tempo para re-ler alguns velhos livros amigos. Um deles foi “The Magic of Watercolor” por um artista Inglês, James Fletcher-Watson (1913-2004). Eu positivamente adoro contemplar as suas soberbas aguarelas de paisagens, algumas rurais outras urbanas. Hoje decidi ver o que acontecia se eu tentasse imitar o seu estilo (eu sei, eu sei…podem parar de rir…). Descobri então que o seu estilo é inimitável, especialmente por mim. De qualque maneira aqui fica a fraquíssima imitação. Tenho a esperança que o senhor Fletcher-Watson me perdoará.During this Holiday break, I had a little more time to browse through some of my books – old friends to me. One of them was “The Magic of Watercolor” by James Fletcher-Watson (1913-2004). I love to look at his superb watercolors of country scenes and townscapes. Today I decided to see what would happen if I tried to imitate his style (I know, I know…you can stop laughing now...). I soon found out that his style is inimitable at least by me. In any event, here I leave the sad imitation. I hope Mr. Fletcher-Watson will forgive me.

Efectivamente, o resultado não é nem por sombras triste, bem pelo contrário. A paisagem é magnífica, com a água muito bem conseguida. E há sempre qualquer detalhe, qualquer coisa nova que se aprende num exercício deste género.
ReplyDeleteBem, eu penso que a aguarela sendo vista independentemente da origem, não esta má. Só que fica muito distante da qualidade dos trabalhos que a inspiraram. Mas como tudo é relativo...não estou arrependido do exercício. Como diz o Paulo, sempre se aprende algo. Obrigado jo ra tone e Paulo.
ReplyDeleteI agree with above, nothing to be ashamed of, on the contrary: you captured the sun and warmth better than he did. I will try and imitate your watercolours some time!

I just noticed you have another blog as well. I personally like the portugese better-but that's just my opinion. Makes me remember old times. Where do you get the time to do all this high quality stuff!
ReplyDeleteRene, I am painting more now that my kids have grown and left the house...things have slowed a bit. I also feel the need to feed my blog. I enjoy it very much and it keeps me away from the couch and the refrigerator, which is a good thing...Thanks for the kind comment.
