The Ironbound is an area in Newark, New Jersey with a large presence of Portuguese immigrants. Its name derives from being surrounded by old railroads. I drive there often (at least until recently) to pick up Portuguese delicacies and bask in the culture of my youth, which remains so strong in me after so many years.

O Ironbound é uma área de presença fortemente Portuguesa na cidade de Newark NJ, perto de New York City. É chamada assim devido a estar rodeada de velhos caminhos de ferro. Muitas vezes ia lá (até recentemente) à caça de restaurantes Lusos e da cultura Portuguesa, mas agora isso é um fruto proibido.
