Este palácio é por vezes denegrido por incluír uma mistura ecléctica de estilos arquitectónicos. Como não sou especialista em arquitectura, eu sinto-me especialmente livre para ficar maravilhado quando olho para ele.

Dito isto, eu sempre quis desenhar este magnífico palácio, mas só usando as minhas próprias fotografias como referência. Como ele fica situado no topo de uma íngreme colina na Serra de Sintra, não é fácil tirar fotografias que abranjam toda a estrutura. As melhores perspectivas requerem um avião. Como o meu avião estava avariado na altura, fui obrigado a tirar as fotografias de um local bastante distante usando uma lente telescópica.

This Palace is sometimes denigrated for including an eclectic variety of architectural styles. Not being an architectural expert, I feel especially free to be in awe whenever I look at it. That said, I always wanted to draw this magnificent structure, but only from reference photos of my own. Since it is located at the very top of a steep hill in the Sintra Mountains, it is very difficult to photograph in its entirety. The best views require an airplane. However, at the time my own private plane was in the shop…so I had to take my photos from a distant hill using a telephoto lens.

Estou quase certo que esta aguarela representa uma parte do Palácio da Regaleira em Sintra. Passei por aqui em 2008.


I am almost sure this is a small part of Regaleira Palace in the beautiful village of Sintra.

Este edifício foi projectado por Adães Bermudes e acabou de ser construído em 1908.

É apenas uma entre tantas belezas arquitectónicas que se podem encontrar nesta vila tão pitoresca.

This building (the local City Hall) was designed by Adães Bermudes and was built in 1908. It is just one among so many architectural beauties to be found in this picturesque village.

Casa dos Penedos - "House of Boulders"

Não sabia o nome ou história deste palácio que me surpreendeu numa curva de estrada em Sintra. Graças ao comentário do Paulo, agora sei. Gostei do contraste dessa cena entre a cor do edifício e a encosta verdejante.

I didn't know the name or history of this palace which suddenly appeared around a bend in the mountain road in Sintra - that is, until I learned it from Paulo's comment here. I liked the contrast in that scene between the color of the building and the surrounding greenery.
