Cabo da Roca
Ainda mais outra perspectiva deste farol icónico. Não posso prometer que seja a última.
Yet another angle for this iconic lighthouse. I can’t promise it will be the last.

Casa do Passal
No entanto aqui fica.
This was painted several years ago and is no longer in my collection. The photo quality is poor but nevertheless here it is. It shows the house in Cabanas de Viriato that belonged to Aristides de Sousa Mendes, a Portuguese diplomat in Bordeaux, France during World War II. Against direct orders, he awarded entry visas to countless Jews desperate to escape the Nazis. I am proud that he is part of my family tree. For all the lives that he saved, he lost his – he died indigent in Lisbon due to government retribution. Efforts are currently in progress to save this building from ruin. We hope for the best outcome.
Aguarela, approx 25 x 35 cm.

Esta so' levou 20 anos.

Castle, Amsterdam
Coming back from our 1995 vacation, we had a layover in Amsterdam which offers a direct flight to Memphis. As always, I took lots of pictures, one of which was recycled into watercolor. It only took 15 years.

O livro motivou-me a procurar fotografias deste lugar. Obrigado a Angrense.
The island of Corvo in the Azores, is one of the most isolated places in Europe. I never visited , although it is in my wish list. A travel book by Raul Brandão (1867-1930)“The unkown islands” moved me to look for some photos of this place. I found one free photo which inspired this watercolor. Many thanks to Angrense.

Sangemil, Beira Alta
Sangemil is an idillic place on the banks of the River Dão just south of Viseu. Its hot springs are sought after for their healing properties. I could use some just about now.
